Appliqué Embroidery Digitizing
Appliqué swaps a big area of stitching for a piece of fabric, stitched down and finished with a satin border. It's how varsity letters, twill numbers and large felt shapes are made, and it can cut stitch count by more than half. The file has to stop at the right moments and the border has to cover the raw edge every time. Appliqué files are $9 simple and $15 complex, and your first design is free.
The three stops, in the right order
Placement line, tack-down, then cover stitch, with machine stops between so you can lay and trim the fabric. Miss a stop and the needle runs straight over your fabric.
Covers the raw edge every time
The cover satin is sized to bury the cut edge with room for a little trimming error. Too narrow and frayed fabric pokes out after the first wash.
Set for your fabric
Tackle twill, felt, fleece and heavier varsity fabrics all need different tack-downs and cover widths. Tell us the material and the file is built for it.
Fewer stitches on big shapes
A large filled letter can take 15,000 stitches; the same shape in appliqué might be a few thousand. That's real machine time saved on a team run.
