Custom Embroidery Patches for New York Businesses

New York orders split unusually cleanly between two worlds: hospitality and trades on one side, fashion and streetwear on the other. They want almost opposite things from a patch.

How we work: we produce and ship patches to customers throughout New York. We don't run a walk-in shop in the state — files are delivered digitally and finished patches ship to you. Below reflects what New York customers actually order.

    Hospitality — the volume segment

Restaurants, hotels, bars and cafés across the five boroughs and upstate generate steady, repeatable orders: chest badges, name patches, apron branding.

Two things define the requirements. Uniforms are laundered commercially and often, which means sew-on backing and polyester thread — iron-on will lift within a season. And staff turnover is high, which makes velcro name badges genuinely economic: the garment is reissued to the next person with a new name patch rather than being written off. See backing options.

    Fashion and streetwear

The Garment District and Brooklyn studios want the opposite: small runs, distinctive materials, frequently changing designs.

Chenille for varsity and denim pieces, leather for premium labels, oversized embroidered backs for jackets. Quantities are often modest — a drop of fifty pieces — which makes low minimums matter more than volume pricing here.

This is also where design detail is highest and where the honest conversation about what thread can hold matters most. A fashion label's intricate mark may need woven rather than embroidered to survive at a wearable size.

    Trades and construction

Contractors, electricians, HVAC and building services order durable workwear patches, usually with company name and often individual names.

Hi-vis is common, and the compliance point applies: adding patches over reflective striping or reducing the required area of fluorescent background can take a certified garment out of ANSI/ISEA 107 spec. Keep decoration off the tape and check anything large with your safety officer before ordering.

    Security and building services

Steady demand for shoulder and chest insignia. As with any official-looking insignia, we produce agency or department badges only for authorised representatives — commercial security company branding is unrestricted.

    Winter fabrics change the answer

New York winters put staff in heavy outerwear, and that shifts what works:

Iron-on is out. Wool coats, heavy canvas and technical shells don't bond reliably, and heat risks damaging them. Sew-on for anything on outerwear.

Waterproof shells need care. Needle holes compromise the membrane. A patch avoids stitching into the garment body only if it's applied to an existing panel — otherwise consider whether the jacket should be decorated at all. Detail in embroidery on different fabrics.

Thick fleece swallows detail. Direct embroidery sinks into the pile; a patch sits on top and stays readable.

    Deadlines

New York clients tend to work to tighter timelines than most, so worth being blunt about what's possible.

Digitizing comes back by email in 12–24 hours, or same day with rush. Physical patch production is one to two weeks depending on quantity and type, plus transit. Nothing compresses production below its actual manufacturing time.

If you have a fixed date — an opening, a season, a fashion week drop — say it in the first message. We'd rather tell you it's not achievable than accept and miss it.

    Multi-location consistency

Restaurant groups and contractors running several sites hit the usual problem: patches ordered separately drift in colour. We keep your file and thread references, so a Queens location ordering next spring matches the Manhattan run from last autumn. Ask for those numbers and keep them your side too.

    Choosing by use

    • Hospitality uniforms → embroidered, sew-on, polyester thread
    • Names and roles that change → velcro
    • Fashion and streetwear → chenille, leather, or oversized embroidered
    • Detailed brand marks → woven
    • Winter outerwear → sew-on, always

Send your artwork, quantity, garment and deadline — we'll quote it and tell you honestly what's achievable by when.
